Recap: Open pods can be refilled and closed pods need to be disposed of when the e-liquid has run out. 2ml open and closed pods can last anywhere from three days to a week.
If you do not like the thought of traditional, clunky vape tanks, pods are the next best alternative. Pod systems strike a balance between traditional and disposable vape pens. These minimalist devices support sleek, compact vape pods that are easy to handle and install. Even better, pods require very little maintenance.
But how long do vape pods last? These small, compact tanks might last longer than you think. Keep reading to discover whether vape pods are a good fit for you.
You need to decide whether you want a closed pod system or an open pod system.
Closed pod systems are similar to disposable devices. For unbeatable convenience, there is nothing better than a closed pod. Each pod comes with a pre-installed coil and is even pre-filled with vape juice. The coil is not replaceable, and once you have used the e-liquid you can’t refill the pod.
Open pod systems have a few characteristics that you would expect to find in traditional tanks. Most open pod manufacturers include a replaceable coil, but in some cases the coil is built into the device and can’t be replaced. These kinds of pods come with a small opening. The opening is usually plugged with a rubber bung, which you can remove to refill the pod with vape juice.
It might come as a surprise to learn there are strict rules about how much e-liquid manufacturers can put in certain products. In 2016, the European Union put the Tobacco Product Directive (TPD) into effect. Vape manufacturers and retailers have to follow the regulations set out in Article 20.
One of the rules states that vape tanks can’t contain more than 2ml of e-liquid. The same is true for vape pods. 99.9% of manufacturers push this rule to the limit and create pods that contain 2ml of vape juice.
Now that we have established how much vape juice you can put in a pod, we can answer the burning question—how long do vape pods last?
There is no exact answer to this question. Pods can last anywhere from three days to a few weeks. The number of puffs that you take depends on a few different factors including the nicotine strength of the juice, the internal battery, and your style of vaping.
Some sources state that 2ml of e-liquid should give you a solid 600 puffs, whereas others opt for a lower estimate. The number of puffs you take each day is up to you. Intermediate vapers who use juice that is on the lower end of the scale (think 3mg and 6mg) might need more puffs to feel satisfied. However, even the most advanced vaper who draws on 20mg nicotine strength e-liquid will be satisfied with fewer puffs.
To make your pod last longer, you should consider altering your draw style. Instead of taking long, drawn-out drags, just draw on the device long enough to get your nicotine hit. By minimising your draw, you can save e-liquid for future puffs.
Beginners often wonder how they can get their cigarette fix from vape devices. The answer is simple: both contain nicotine. Vape devices, and especially pod systems, present ex-smokers with an easier, cleaner way to get their nicotine kick.
But what is the equivalent of 2ml of e-liquid? Let’s look at a disposable pod and imagine that it contains 2ml of 20mg nicotine-strength vape juice. This is equivalent to around 20 cigarettes.
Looking for something lower strength? No problem. A disposable pod that contains 2ml of 6mg nicotine-strength vape juice is equivalent to six cigarettes.
